Simple but robust, this wheeler reminds adventurers of the good old days of off-roading and the exhilaration that comes from a no-frills, pure-fun mini bike. Just look for: Dorman Wheel Nut 611-107.1 and you'll be good. One of the Chinese-manufactured mini bikes that have successfully penetrated the North American market is the Coleman CT200U. It is a regular lug nut you can buy at most auto parts stores ($1.99 AutoZone, for example). The lug nut can be bought at some of the stores that sell the toque converters, but they overcharge by a ton (like $20+!). I also had to cut slots in the new cover for the chain. Additionally, the mounting plate will hit the frame at the bottom rear (I marked a line about 1/4" above the frame and cut off that part of the plate) and the back of the bearing housing on the driven side may hit a mounting tab on the frame (which you can bend or cut to clear - it was used for the stock clutch mounting plate). You'll need to use a specific lug nut instead, which also requires grinding about 1/3 of the key off of the collar that goes on immediately before the lug nut (clearance for the lug nut). This means that the normal bolt that holds the driven pully on will not work. Rather than having the shaft be internally threaded, this one is externally threaded. Relatively, but it did require some extra work. ![]() Make sure to measure your shaft size before ordering one. You can find Chinese ones on Amazon and Ebay for relatively cheap. Your best bang for your buck is going to be a torque converter setup. A real stage 2 setup has the billet parts, a bigger cam and a larger slide style carb. The way they number their kits is a joke. The governor needs to be fully removed from inside the case too, not just bypassed at the linkage.įWIW, the OMBWarehouse "stage 2" kit is still a stage 1 setup. A flywheel coming apart could send you to the hospital. If you remove the governor, you'll want to install a billet rod and billet flywheel to keep those parts from letting go at higher rpms. Both are considerably better engines than the Predator and put out more power. If you really want to run a 212, get either a Ducar 212 or Tillotson 212. They're both rated at 6.5hp and the 196 has a slightly higher torque rating. Swapping the 196 for a 212 Predator is a complete waste of money. r/garagefabrication - Let's be honest, this applies to most mini bikes r/scooters - The less fun version of the mini bike r/Motorcycles - The mini bike's big brother General questions are excluded from this rule. ![]() Post removal for violation of this rule is left to the discretion of the mod team. The flywheel can go through the blower housing. Q2: Can I remove my governor without replacing the connecting rod and a flywheel? I don't recommend doing this on minibikes if your flywheel lets go your leg is right next to it. Next you will probably need it inspected by your state police to be issued a title. And a custom charging system to power all this. You will need to add head light, tail light, brake light, turn signals, horn and and mirrors. Still interested? First check your state laws some states outright ban converting off road vehicles. The idea of having transportation under a $1000 isn't feasible. First and foremost a minibike is the worst possible street riding experience rigid frame, air cooled engine, and no transmission.
