Integrated family counseling is often an excellent way to approach the treatment of SUDs, but you may sometimes need to rule it out because of safety, health, or legal constraints. Only in rare situations are family-based interventions and counseling inadvisable, inappropriate, or counterproductive. However, engaging clients and their families in family-based interventions without first carefully assessing for such constraints, and particularly for violence in the family, can result in less effective treatment and increased risk of physical or other forms of abuse. Generally, you can use integrated family counseling to treat SUDs when there are no health or legal constraints and no current risk of intimate partner violence in the family or couple with whom you are working. It is your responsibility to provide a safe, supportive environment for all participants in family counseling. Social support, bonding with family members, goal direction, and monitoring by families help clients’ recovery efforts ( Moos, 2011 Moos & Moos, 2007).Įngaging family members in treatment is the key to decreasing interpersonal conflict among family members and increasing family bonding and other elements of recovery support for the client.Īppropriateness of Integrated Family Counseling for SUDs These associations occur in diverse populations with people who use various substances. ![]() Positive social/family support (especially support for recovery) is related to long-term abstinence and recovery, and negative social/family support (e.g., interpersonal conflict, social pressure to use) is related to increased risk for returning to substance misuse ( Brown, Tracy, Jun, Park, & Min, 2015 Cavaiola, Fulmer, & Stout, 2015 Moos & Moos, 2007 Worley et al., 2014). The size, norms, and values of a person's social network and the quality of social and family support affect the recovery of the individual with an SUD. Who are the significant people in the client's life who can support the client's recovery and also benefit from family-based interventions? Because most SUD treatment services and reimbursement are geared toward individuals who initially present for treatment, the first step in providing integrated family counseling for SUD treatment is to ask the individual client whom he or she considers to be family. Whether you provide individual or group treatment, family member psychoeducation, or counseling for couples or families as part of your organization's treatment program, it is important to keep a family-centered focus. It also summarizes the goals of family involvement in a client's SUD treatment and identifies your role in providing integrated family counseling, along with the stages of family counseling.įamily involvement can positively affect SUD treatment engagement and retention. This chapter will help you determine when to use family-based interventions across the continuum of care, whom to involve in those interventions, and what to consider when providing screening and assessment in a family context. It also presents family-centered counseling strategies you can use to overcome these challenges. Integrating family-based counseling techniques into substance use disorder (SUD) treatment is possible along a continuum of care, from assessment through the various stages of family counseling.Ĭhapter 4 discusses common issues you may face as an SUD treatment provider using an integrated family counseling approach. ![]() However, some family members are willing to attend at least an initial session. Rather than using a 10+ year old media player, there are better, more modern alternatives to Windows Media Player available for Windows users. This problem can only really be fixed by switching to an alternative media player instead. One problem with both apps, for instance, is a lack of the overall file format support you’ll see from third-party alternatives. These may be ideal replacements for Windows Media Player, or they may be lacking in the features you’d expect. By splitting Media Player’s features into two apps, however, Microsoft is trying to offer more distinctive features than the original Media Player for each intended purpose. There’s no denying, however, that Movies & TV and Groove Music don’t have the same brand recognition that Microsoft had with Windows Media Player. If you decide to rent content through the PC app, you’ll also be able to access it on an Xbox, should you wish too. In that respect, Movies & TV is designed as a competitor for other big media rental apps such as Google Play or Amazon Prime Video. You need a 4-gauge copper wire for an 80 amp, and a 1-gauge wire for a 100 amp service.įor 125 amps, you’ll need to use a 1-gauge copper wire, while 150 amp requires 1/0-sized copper wire. Although it varies for numerous reasons, the consensus among technicians is that 4-gauge copper wires are best for 70 amp circuit breakers. The Right Wire Size and Rule of ThumbĪny electrical activity must meet specific criteria. Plus, you’ll also place everyone at serious risk for electrical fires. But if it’s too small, you’ll end up with low-performing circuits. If you use a gauge that’s too big, you’ll just have spent more cash than necessary. With that, if you end up stuck between different gauge sizes, always remember that bigger is better. So ensure you increase the conductor’s size to reduce/avoid potential voltage drops. Remember, power quality is affected depending on what you go for. Also, you can use 1-gauge aluminum or 3-gauge copper for your 100 amp circuits. With that, when you need wiring for your 100-amp sub panel that’s over 20 feet, consider getting a 1-gauge wire. Since longer wires need more power from the source to reach outlets, there will be more resistance. Electrical wires consume current because they have resistance. The length is a key factor when trying to size your electrical wiring. 100 Amp Sub Panel with a 200-feet Distance In other countries, they utilize the Imperial Standard. The United States, along with 65 other countries, uses AWG for measuring units. Do this by determining the devices you’ll use. So before choosing which to purchase, it’s best to consider the amount of electrical current it can handle. If you use the incorrect diameter, it could lead to issues in the long run. The reason is it determines the total current it can handle. If you’re asking if it’s important to get the correct diameter, the answer is yes. These numbers are inversely proportional to diameters, so the higher the number, the smaller its diameter. However, you might also see gauges like 3/0, 1/0, or 2/0. Some of the numbers you’ll find include 6 and 4. This is essentially the thickness of the wire but that term isn’t entirely accurate, which is why we say gauge. If you’ve visited the electrical section of any hardware shop, you’ll see that the gauge comes in different options. What is a Gauge?įor the gauge, it’s the diameter of the product that also tells you how much current it can carry and handle. ![]() The other is to add a control point for all circuits close to the area they serve. There are two reasons for installing a sub panel, one is you need more room for additional circuits. Simultaneously, the rest of your home can stay powered like usual. To avoid this, you can set up a separate sub-panel for your garage.Īlso, you can isolate the problem area and switch off its sub panel in any fault/short. For example, garage workshops have heavy loads on the main panel because of heavy types of machinery. However, it can be avoided by distributing sub-panels in different parts of your home.Īdditionally, sub-panels can isolate specific spots that have varying power usages. If you think about it, overloading is a serious hazard. You can also add a sub panel to prevent the main panel from becoming too crowded. Their primary goal is to make it easier for you to manage and organize the electrical circuits in your house. But what makes the sub panels different?īecause the main panel powers them, sub-panels are unique elements. From there, it instantly stops currents to prevent instances of fires. It helps protect your appliances from faulting/shorting.Īlso, it has fuses and circuit breakers to find electricity surcharges. If you’re wondering what its purpose is, it’s similar to the main panels. Instead, it gets power from the primary panel’s current. First up is the electrical sub panel: it’s like a little main panel without a direct connection to the power utility. If you’re just starting and aren’t familiar with the whole process, we’re here to help. But aside from knowing the correct wire size, let’s look at other essential elements to this question. ![]() But since we’re being specific here, you’ll need a 1-gauge copper wire for your 100 amp sub panel. Have you ever wondered what wire size for a 100 amp sub panel that’s 200 feet away? In hot regions the main danger is heat and sun-scorch, which can cause the leaves to shrivel in summer. In areas that are too cold the branches may suffer from damage in winter and die, although often the main stems will re-sprout. Some varieties will thrive in zone 4 as well. In gardens Japanese Maples are hardy from zone 5 to zone 8, with some being hardy into zone 9. So making a different choice from the main-stream will always bring something special and unique into your garden. However many of the other forms are very worthwhile garden plants, including forms with colored winter twigs, unusual leaf shapes and ones grown for particularly spectacular or unusual fall coloring. Of the many forms introduced and bred, the most popular are those with red summer leaves those with finely divided leaves and those that are pendulous and cascading. The Japanese name momiji means the hand of a baby. The Swiss botanist and doctor Carl Peter Thunberg named the tree Acer palmatum, because the leaf looked like a hand. The bark is smooth and gray on older limbs, but green, red or sometimes pink on younger shoots. As a wild tree it grows 20-35 feet tall, occasionally more, and usually has several trunks, rather than a single central trunk. These slow growing, dwarf varieties are sure to be the highlight of your landscape. ![]() They can be grown in the garden, in containers and of course they are ideal subjects for the ancient Japanese art of bonsai. Compared with many other trees and shrubs, they have few pests or diseases and are versatile enough to thrive in locations ranging from full shade to full sun. These small trees have a reputation for being hard to grow, but this is largely undeserved. There are also a wide number of varieties with red or purple leaves all summer, which bring a unique highlight to any garden. They may be upright in form, pendulous or cascading, with red or green leaves and as well as their stunning fall coloring, many have remarkable colors on their new, early spring leaves too. Some grow into small trees 20 feet or more in height, others remain as low shrubs reaching five feet only after many years of growth.
